Molecular Biology Technician at Mirmus
We are currently looking for a molecular biology lab technician. The position requires 1-3 years bench experience including PCR set-up and troubleshooting, DNA manipulation, sequence analysis and cloning. The candidate must have very good pipetting skills and acute attention to detail, must be able to work in a fast pace environment to meet deadlines, able to operate lab instruments and is familiar with MS Excel and computers. Ideally, they will be familiar with the concepts of RNAi and genetically modified rodent models, however, we welcome individuals eager to learn if they are able to work in a team as well as independently under minimal supervision. Successful candidates will be part of an innovative and creative team with the opportunity to apply their creativity to Mirimus’ core vision. The job responsibilities include, but are not limited to receiving samples, logging these into inventory, preparing sample sheets, extracting genomic DNA, setting up PCR, plasmid DNA cloning and manipulation, analyzing sequence data, operating lab equipment, troubleshooting processes, maintaining clear and up to date laboratory records, making solutions, and other lab duties as required. Min. Experience: BS in Biology or related, with 1-3 years of relevant experience To be successful you will need: Education - BS in Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biotechnology or related fields. - A minimum of 1-3 years of experience working in a laboratory in a research or industry setting. Suitable candidates should be able to:
• Learn quickly and properly follow protocols, procedures, and instructions• Routinely perform molecular biology techniques such as genomic DNA extraction, PCR, plasmid mini-prep, restriction enzyme digestion and ligation, DNA oligo annealing, Gibson assembly cloning, and DNA sequence analysis. • Good knowledge of scientific principles, methods and processes (technical and/or theoretical) used to conduct systematic and objective inquiry, methods of data collection and analyses, and interpreting and reporting results are required, as well as the ability to operate instruments and equipment and proficiency in related information technology including Microsoft Office, VectorNTI, SnapGene etc. • Working knowledge of RNA interference, shRNA and/or siRNA, as well as, gene editing techniques including homologous recombination and CRISPR/Cas9, and their applications to study gene function. • Be able to effectively summarize and clearly report on a wide range of service line related tasks • Interact with all individuals in productive ways to enhance Mirimus’ goals and core vision.
